Dr. Michelle O’Donoghue is a cardiologist and clinical investigator at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS). Dr. O’Donoghue is a Senior Investigator in the Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) Study Group, founded by Dr. Eugene Braunwald. In 2022, she received the inaugural McGillycuddy-Logue Endowed Chair in women’s cardiovascular health.
Dr. O’Donoghue’s primary research focus is the design and conduct of multicenter clinical trials for patients with stable and unstable heart disease. Additional clinical research interests include the evaluation of novel antiplatelet drugs, established and novel biomarkers, the study of women and heart disease and the development of novel therapeutics in the management of acute coronary syndromes. She is the global Principal Investigator of two ongoing trials of a novel therapeutic that works through RNA interference to lower lipoprotein(a). Dr. O’Donoghue served as the vice-chair for the 2025 ACC/AHA Guidelines for the Management of Acute Coronary Syndromes.
